Windsurfing: Hood River, Columbia River Gorge! Wind Direction: w Wind Stength: 25kts decreasing Surf / Sea State: flattish Air Temperature: 30 Sea Temperature: 19 Weather: Sun & Sanblasted Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Tried 'The Marina' launch point today, much preferred it to the more
popular 'Event Site'. Loos, grassy rigging, a really friendly crowd, and no
fee!
I found that by sticking to the Oregon half of the river (opposite shore is
Washington state) that the water was flatter, less current, easier
waterstarting, no danger of getting flattened by a barge...
The dam Maui Magi Harness popped off again, & I've had it with those dam MM
variable harness lines that keep giving out. But I had a good session,
flying along and making it half way around my carve crashes. Waterstarts &
general control of the wave board were much slicker today, and I didn't
beat myself up about the gybing, still being new to such a small board.
After lunch the wind dropped a bit, so I swapped the 4.5 for a 5.0, which
fitted the bill perfectly. Come 4pm even that was too small, so a good
time to call it a day.
Met a brilliant friendly crowd of people from all over the US & Canada,
sailed in warm clean water, a beautiful setting, and a brilliant
atmosphere. Wonderful!
